About Ballerina Jewelers

Ballerina Jewelers and its sister stores have outfitted the Caribbean in fine watches and beautiful jewelry for over a quarter of a century. Founded by Sam Mirpuri, the company is now in its second generation, with brothers Peter, James and Mike Mirpuri at the helm. Together, they have cultivated Ballerina Jewelers into a destination that attracts tourists and residents alike, helping them make important purchases in the realm of watches and jewelry.

Since its founding, Ballerina Jewelers has grown to include ten locations, two of which are exclusive boutiques for recently acquired brands, just doors away from each other. Ballerina Jewelers opened its Ice Watch store in 2013, and in the fall of 2014, it opened a Longines Flagship Boutique—the first ever in the Caribbean. While each location has its own personality, the stores share a classically elegant style, providing customers with a comfortable environment in which to shop. The flagship location, at 56 Front Street in Philipsburg, St. Maarten, has a traditional exterior, while inside the store is modern and ultrachic.

“We were small in the beginning. Some would say our survival is a tribute to our hard work,” Managing Director Mike Mirpuri shares. “We would like to think that our 28 years of success can be attributed to a meticulous commitment to our core values: service commitment to our customers and commitment to our employees and their families.”

Ballerina Jewelers represents approximately 40 watch brands, making it a one-stop shop for any serious watch collector or fashion- conscious timepiece aficionado. The array of watches includes elite brands such as Roger Dubuis, Franck Muller, Bell & Ross, Graham, Frédérique Constant and Perrelet, as well as fashion brands Guess, Versace, Calvin Klein and more.

Mirpuri was hard-pressed to identify one brand as the company’s most popular. He thoughtfully says, “Our staff approaches each brand and transaction with the respect it deserves, whether dealing with a $3,000 or $40,000 timepiece, a single customer or an entire family—such as the father and three sons who left Ballerina Jewelers with a Perrelet Turbine on each of their wrists.”

Ballerina Jewelers’ 50 dedicated sales associates exercise their dedication to the customer experience each day, and they ensure their preparedness to address clients’ needs through in-house trainings and a thorough review of magazines, websites and press material available.

As an avid watch enthusiast himself, Mirpuri notes the enjoyment that both he and his team experience when navigating the great range of complications with clients. Both the fine selection of product and the dedication of the staff influence clients to return to Ballerina Jewelers for future purchases and watch exploration.

“Each customer of Ballerina Jewelers is treated to a level of service that is second to none, which makes it highly likely that they will visit one of our stores during future trips to the Caribbean,” Mirpuri adds. “This is often the case, as world travelers are regularly heading to the Caribbean for beachside respites, and they often include Ballerina Jewelers as a part of their vacation tour!”

Ballerina Jewelers understands that in addition to offering great brands and exceptional service, part of its job is to educate consumers about the benefits of buying a timepiece from an authorized dealer.

“We do our best to explain to customers that there is no warranty included and there is no after-sales service provided when purchasing a watch from an unauthorized dealer,” Mirpuri says. “At Ballerina, we offer an additional service guarantee on timepieces sold, and we will service watches after the original warranty has expired at a minimum expense.”

While watches are indeed a strong focus at Ballerina Jewelers, the company offers a varied inventory, including watch winders by Swiss Kubik, writing instruments by Montblanc and Cross, giftware by Lladró and the stunning collections of over 20 fine jewelry brands. Ballerina’s featured jewelry designers include Tacori, Simon G, Hidalgo, Le Vian, Stefan Hafner, Chimento for Men, Fope and more.

When it comes to philanthropic and civic activity, Ballerina Jewelers is committed to helping its local and greater community at every opportunity.

“Since our business revolves around milestones, celebrations and times of prosperity, it is our duty to reach out to those less fortunate,” Mirpuri explains.

And reach out they do. They have shown recent support for the American Red Cross, the Monument Preservation Foundation and Rotary International, as well as ongoing support for the AIDS Foundation and the Breast Cancer Foundation. Ballerina Jewelers has also demonstrated its philanthropic spirit through contributions to build a classroom for the University of St. Maarten.

The next time your travels take you to paradise, visit Ballerina Jewelers for a well-deserved and enjoyable stop at yet another corner of paradise.
