TAG Heuer adds a 42mm size model to its Connected Watch collection while enhancing the technology and feature set of its existing 45mm model. The new size answers requests for a slimmer, compact version of its smartwatch, which the watchmaker debuted in 2015.

The new TAG Heuer Connected, pictured in new 42mm size.

The new 42mm model offers a not only a thinner case but also a clearly dressier profile with its ergonomic steel pushers, a thin bezel below its sapphire crystal and a fully integrated bracelet.

With its ceramic bezel, the upgraded 45mm model is still quite sporty and offers a larger crown for easier access to all adjustments. In addition TAG Heuer has added a slight bit of pressure to the pushers to mimic the feel of pushers on a mechanical watch.

For both Connected Watch sizes TAG Heuer now includes a new animated display called Riverside that conveys a futuristic effect of time elapsing. A new Wellness face offers information on the wearer’s exercise regimen directly on the home screen. This data might include, for instance, a heart rate and the wearer’s daily steps.

Among the new health applications, TAG Heuer highlights an all-new guided workout regimen, which consist of programmed exercises with pre-set lengths. When users finish their exercise, the watch vibrates to indicate that it is time to move on to the next one. TAG Heuer is offering the new sports app on the new 45mm model and the 42mm model, as well as the previous generation of Connected watches.

Throughout the collection TAG Heuer has also added new digital features, including the latest sports news, weather, wellness and calendar data delivered directly to the face. Look for a wide range of new watch faces as well, including reinterpretations of existing Connected designs.

Other upgrades to this new generation Connected Watch include: A thirty-percent longer battery life (on the new 45mm model), faster data sync with Bluetooth 5.0., and an altimeter that works alongside the watch’s accelerometer, heart rate monitor, compass and GPS.

TAG Heuer runs its new generation Connected Watch runs on Wear OS by Google. At launch, the watch will run on Wear OS 2. Users will have the option to upgrade to Wear OS 3 at no extra cost when the update becomes available.

And finally, TAG Heuer has developed a new charger that doubles as watch display stand. It becomes a nightstand that will display the time.

The new generation TAG Heuer Connected Watch will go on sale on March 10 in select stores worldwide and at www.tagheuer.com.

Prices:$1,800 (42mm), $2,550 (full titanium 45mm version), $2,050 (45mm with rubber strap) and $2,250 (45mm with bracelet).

TAG Heuer this week adds a thinner, more refined version of the Aquaracer Professional 200 to its Aquaracer collection.

Echoing updates TAG Heuer made to its Aquaracer Professional 300 dive watch this past April, the changes to the Aquaracer Professional 200 also result in a thinner and slightly smaller design while also retaining the technical specifications of what TAG Heuer calls its “all-terrain luxury tool watch.”

TAG Heuer’s new Aquaracer Professional 200, now available in 40mm and 30mm sizes. Pictured is a 40mm automatic model.

Those specifications include the same six design points TAG Heuer has built into the collection since 2004, the year Aquaracer debuted as the watchmaker’s dive watch collection. These include: a unidirectional rotating bezel; a screw-down crown; water resistance to at least 200 meters; luminous markings; a sapphire crystal; and a double safety clasp.

To create the new automatic Aquaracer 200 Professional, TAG Heuer combines these guideposts with a more wrist-friendly size (40mm versus 41mm in its previous iteration) and a more sophisticated black, silver or blue dial finish. (Seven quartz-powered Aquaracer 200 Professional collection watches will also be available in both 40mm and 30mm case sizes, and two new automatic models measure 30mm in diameter.)

Steel bezel

In addition to the smaller dimensions, TAG Heuer replaces the former model’s ceramic bezel diving scale with an eye-catching, engraved twelve-facet steel bezel. The new design features a polished central bracelet link, adding extra style to what is primarily an all-weather sport watch.

Both the automatic and quartz watches feature a slimmed-down, more elegant bracelet.

Those familiar with last year’s updates to the Aquaracer Professional 300 will see similar sartorial touches with the Aquaracer Professional 200 update. Note the same refined, repeating horizontal lines on the dial and the sculpted, shorter lugs with brushed and polished finishes.

But unlike the deep dive watch’s decidedly sporty dial, the dial on the new Aquaracer Professional 200 is more classically finished. You’ll see straight-edged, trapezoidal hour markers, thinner sword-shaped hands, and crisper detailing across the dial.

TAG Heuer notes that while it has still coated the watch’s hour markers and hands with SuperLuminova, its dial makers have added no luminescent material to the bezel. The result, according to the watchmaker, is a “more sartorial look” for the Aquaracer Professional 200.

The 30mm automatic model sports a smoky black or blue dial, some with diamond markers.

As noted above, TAG Heuer is offering the new Aquaracer Professional 200 models with a choice of movements and sizes. Within the 40mm collection, there are two automatic and two quartz references, while at 30mm there are two automatics and five quartz options.

The watch’s reverse is engraved with a compass, replacing the diving helmet featured on earlier Aquaracer case backs.

These choices differ markedly from the options available with the 2021 Aquaracer Professional 300 update, which is only available with an automatic movement. In summary, the automatic Aquaracer Professional 200 models sport gradient dials, date windows, sweeping seconds hands and more detailed minute tracks. The quartz model dials are simpler and display no date, though several models offer diamond accents.

Prices: $2,500 (40mm automatic), $1,850 (40mm quartz), $3,200 (30mm automatic), $2,500 to $4,550 (30mm quartz with diamonds), $1,800 (30mm quartz).

To celebrate the Chinese New Year, TAG Heuer this week launches a limited edition Carrera Year of the Tiger Edition sporting blue tiger stripes on its dial.

The new TAG Heuer Limited Edition Carrera Year of the Tiger.

The Carrera’s gold-plated hands, markers and date box gleam amid the three-dimensional stripes that cut across the dial. TAG Heuer dial makers have created the eye-catching dial using horizontally brushed metal coated with blue PVD treatment (light blue stripes) and painted textured metal (darker stripes).

The same blue hue appears on the watch’s blue calfskin strap that TAG Heuer has accented with a stitched double gold color border.

TAG Heuer has even pictured a blue tiger in attack mode on the clear sapphire crystal back. Beneath that tiger you’ll see the automatic watch’s rotor and the description “ONE OF 300”.

This 41mm steel-cased special edition TAG Heuer Carrera Three Hands is the latest model within the Carrera collection update initially seen this past October. As with that model, TAG Heuer’s Caliber 5 automatic movement powers the Year of the Tiger Edition.

The TAG Heuer Formula 1 Senna Special Edition 2021.

You’ll see yellow echoed on the famous double S (the Brazilian driver’s iconic brand) atop the bezel at 12 o’clock near Senna’s name as well as at 6 o’clock within the subdial. Ayrton Senna was Formula 1 World Champion in 1988, 1989, and 1999.

In addition, yellow frames each subdial and the date window. Even the bracelet’s leather, embossed to echo TAG Heuer’s link-shaped bracelet, is stitched in yellow. Finally, the black ceramic bezel is accented with a yellow border.
