Maurice Lacroix adds an extra sporty model to its popular Aikon collection with the new King of the Court Special Edition, a quartz chronograph dedicated to the King of the Court series of beach volleyball tournaments.

The new Maurcie Lacroix Aikon King of the Court Special Edition.

As the King of the Court’s official timekeeper, Maurice Lacroix launches the 42mm titanium chronograph with eye-catching black, white and golden yellow color accents to match the volleyball organization’s official colors. In addition, you’ll find that the case back is engraved with the King of the Court logo.

For those evening matches, Maurice Lacroix ensures easy dial visibility with extra strong luminescent material on the watch’s hour and minute hands.

Maurice Lacroix supplies a three-color premium-quality rubber strap with the watch. The watchmaker says the new strap is “more flexible, aiding wearer comfort and provides superior wear resistance.”

And as is the case with the full Aikon collection, the new watch is also endowed with the Easy Strap Exchange system that allows for tool-free strap changes. Price: $1,500.

Maurice Lacroix has worked with movement specialist Sellita to create a new skeletonized version of the watchmaker’s best-selling Aikon. And unlike most of the watchmaker’s existing skeletonized watches, this new model, the Aikon Automatic Skeleton 39mm, with its namesake 39mm diameter case size, is the smallest –and first unisex – open-worked watch within the full Maurice Lacroix collection.

Collectors familiar with Maurice Lacroix know that it has a long history of making skeleton watches. Especially within its Masterpiece collection, this contemporary manufacture has long offered alluring open-worked dials alongside a host of interesting models with multi-hand retrograde functions.

Noting that it wanted to create an affordable skeleton watch with the brand’s existing high quality-price ratio, Maurice Lacroix aimed to work with Sellita to “apply its expertise to the creation of a new, contemporary model with smaller case dimensions.”

With this new Aikon Automatic Skeleton 39mm, the company adds to existing work with the movement specialist to create Automatic ML115 (base SW200). With considerable transparency, circular grained finishing and combined sun-brushed and sandblasted décor, the new watch successfully says ‘contemporary’ within an often very classic mechanical watch category.

Thus, instead of delicate filigree we see curved, matte-finished bridges that nicely expose the movement’s gearing and escapement while maintaining the torsional strength needed in a casually sporty watch.

Maurice Lacroix also fits the Aikon Automatic Skeleton 39mm with the brand’s Easy Strap Exchange system which allows the wearer to swap the bracelet for one of the leather or rubber strap options without using any tools.

Price: $3,450.

Maurice Lacroix cases its sporty Aikon collection in colorful recycled ocean-bound plastic to create a bright series of Aikon #tide quartz time and date watches.

The Aikon #tide, offered in ten colors on a white or black strap.

With assistance from Swiss recycler #tide, Maurice Lacroix cases each 40mm watch with up-cycled plastic combined with glass fiber. The composite material is twice as hard as standard plastic and is five times more shock and damage resistant, according to the brand. Maurice Lacroix creates the bezel, case, case back, crown, end-piece and buckle on the Aikon #tide using the composite material.

If the sun-drenched case and dial colors aren’t enough seaside style for you, Maurice Lacroix also references with sea on the watch’s dial with its ‘Vague du Jura’ motif, topped with a flat sapphire crystal. Several models sport diamond-set indexes (see above).

As an Aikon, the watch retains its Swiss watch technical profile with a screw-down crown and a screwed caseback that contribute to the watch’s water resistance of 100 meters.

Maurice Lacroix also equips the new series with its own Easy Strap Exchange system, allowing the wearer to swap the strap for an alternative without the need for tools. Maurice Lacroix will expand the Aikon #tide collection later in 2022 with a model featuring a recycled-material composite bracelet.

Price: $750 and $925 (with diamond-set indexes).

Maurice Lacroix indulges its luxurious side with the Eliros Sunshine, a gilded addition to its fashion-forward Eliros collection.

The new Maurice Lacroix Eliros Sunshine.

While the glittery dial and strap on the 40mm quartz watch catch your eye immediately, it’s the textured pyramid pattern that sets the watch apart from other chic wristwear.

The watch’s sapphire crystal will thwart your attempt to run your finger over the dial to feel the peaks in the golden pyramid range. But you’re free to caress the supple gold strap, which features its own dimensional pleasures.

Maurice Lacroix ensures that the gold hues on the dial and the case match the brightly colored leather strap by utilizing an immersion technique for both components. And to further underscore the fashionable intent of the Eliros Sunshine, the Swiss watchmaker packages the watch into dual-use box and handbag made with a textured material that matches the watch strap.

The watch’s gold-colored leaf-shaped hour and minute hands, and its thin gold-colored seconds hand, remain relatively easy to read even with their matching shades. Not surprisingly, the Maurice Lacroix stylized M logo is also quite visible on the dial, just atop the name, spelled out for all to see.

Confident of their stylish new Eliros Sunshine, the folks at Maurice Lacroix ask you to “form an orderly queue for one of the hottest watches this season.”

Price: $850.
