TAG Heuer launches a special edition, gold-cased Carrera chronograph with a debut dial design that echoes the famed Heuer reference 1158 CHN. Collectors might also spy a two-tone color palette of the John Player Special livery from Formula 1 in the 1970s and 1980s.

The new 18-karat gold TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph.

The new TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph sports a 42mm yellow gold case with matching gold pushers and crown. Its impressive black sunray brushed dial plays nicely with prominent gilded dial elements. The most spectacular of these elements are the two gilded gold chronograph sub-dials at 3 o’clock and 9 o’clock. TAG Heuer also plates the hands and indexes with matching yellow gold to heighten the retro luxury factor of the entire piece.

Through the clear sapphire back TAG Heuer makes visible its own Calibre Heuer 02, which is decorated with a customized black oscillating mass. With a vertical clutch and column wheel, the movement provides a power reserve of an impressive eighty hours. Finally, TAG Heuer matches the gold watch with a black alligator strap with a gold pin buckle.

Price: $21,500.

Mt. Joy, Pennsylvania-based independent watchmaker RGM commemorates the 150th anniversary of Yellowstone National Park by launching a new watch with a hand-made cloisonné enamel dial that depicts a scene from the park.

The new RGM Yellowstone Model 25.

The new RGM Yellowstone Model 25 is an automatic model from the watchmaker’s Model 25 series that RGM builds using American-made 40mm steel cases with distinctive ribbed sides, a contoured bezel and curved lugs.

Its large dial opening depicts a mountain view fronted by a buffalo, an image inspired by a Work Projects Administration (WPA) poster from the 1940s.

The WPA posters, now in the Library of Congress, were designed to publicize exhibits, community activities, theatrical productions, and health and educational programs in seventeen states and the District of Columbia.

RGM explains that cloisonné (‘to partition’ in French) is an enameling technique in which the outline of the design is formed by first adding compartments to the dial using wire. The wires remain visible in the finished piece. The artisan then adds the ‘cloisonné’, which is made with enamel powder made into a paste and kiln-fired.

The RGM Yellowstone Model 25 is a three-piece limited edition and the fourth watch RGM has released in celebration of its own thirtieth anniversary in 2022. Price: $13,900.

Ulysse Nardin commemorates Veteran’s Day by launching the Diver Chronometer 44mm One More Wave, the second watch built in collaboration with One More Wave, a non-profit organization that assists wounded veterans through surfing and artistic therapy.

The new Ulysse Nardin Diver Chronometer 44mm One More Wave.

Rather than the 1,000-meter-water-resistant, 46mm Deep Diver with helium valve we saw in 2019 with the premiere One More Wave model, the new watch offers an ‘everyday wear’ option to buyers.

It draws from the watchmaker’s Diver collection of 44mm, 300-meter models with more classical crown placement and no helium valve. Ulysse Nardin outfits the new watch with its excellent in-house UN-118 automatic movement.

The Diver Chronometer 44mm One More Wave also more prominently displays the One More Wave iconography and features the organization’s distinctive turquoise color on its hands, the top of the bezel and on the lower strap connector (on the OMW logo). The watch’s black DLC titanium clear sapphire caseback is also engraved with the One More Wave logo.

Jean-Christophe Sabatier, Ulysse Nardin chief product officer, explains that for the new watch, Ulysse Nardin worked closely with One More Wave founder and former U.S. Navy SEAL Alex West and his members to strongly emphasize the organization.

“I particularly like the way the hands line up perfectly with the 0 at the top of the bezel and with the logo just below the case, all with the same color,” Sabatier says.

The San Diego-based One More Wave has been assisting disabled veterans since 2015 and owns and operates its own surfboard factory to make custom surfboards for wounded and disabled veterans.

Now supporting 600 veterans, the organization aims to support 2,500 veterans with its ongoing fund-raising efforts. “We would not be the same organization we are today without the support from Ulysse Nardin,” says West.

Ulysse Nardin teams with Norwegian outdoor sportswear brand Norrøna to launch the Diver Norrona Arctic Night, a limited edition dive watch. Alongside the launch Ulysse Nardin has also partnered with Norwegian polar explorer Børge Ousland, who is a long-time wearer of Norrøna arctic wear.

The new Ulysse Nardin Diver Norrona Arctic Night, a limited edition dive watch.

The new watch is essentially a new black iteration of the Ocean Race Diver, the most sustainable watch in Ulysse Nardin’s collection. Ulysse Nardin explains that its designers were inspired by Norwegian Fjords and volcanic rocks as it created the black, gray and white color palette of the new watch.

The launch underscores Ulysse Nardin’s commitment to using sustainable materials to produce its watches.

Ulysse Nardin makes the watch’s sidecase and case-back from forty percent Carbonium and sixty percent recycled fishing nets. The case itself is made of eighty percent recycled automotive materials, as supplied by Voestalpine Boehler from Austria. The watch’s strap is made of 100% recycled fishing nets.

In addition, Ulysse Nardin creates the bezel decoration from 100% Carbonium, created from recycled aircraft parts. Even the movement, the automatic UN-118, is built with locally sourced components made within thirty kilometers of the Ulysse Nardin’s Swiss facilities.
