H. Moser & Cie. Pioneer Tourbillon

Just weeks after debuting a now-sold-out Endeavour Perpetual Moon Concept with Vantablack, H. Moser & Cie expands its Pioneer collection with a new flying tourbillon watch called Pioneer Tourbillon.

Utilizing the elegant Caliber HMC 804 with flying tourbillon (also found in the dressier Endeavour Tourbillon), H. Moser offers this just slightly sporty tourbillon with the same 120 meters of water resistance and three-day power reserve H. Moser builds into all its Pioneer watches.

Adding to the leisurely attitude here is a domed sapphire crystal topping a case that also features sectioned sides and a monogrammed screw-in crown, both features not typical of traditional, dressier tourbillon watches. The watch’s 42.8-mm steel case protects the self-winding HMC 804 Manufacture caliber, set below a typically rich midnight-blue fumé dial, a look strongly associated with H. Moser.

H. Moser equips its flying tourbillon with a particularly robust double hairspring. With the dual, flat hairsprings each correcting during day-to-day use, the caliber can exhibit improved long-term accuracy and isochronism, according to H. Moser. In addition, the paired hairsprings reduce the effect of friction normally experienced with a single hairspring.

Equally unusual, H. Moser’s unique interchangeable tourbillon design makes for simpler servicing. Price: $49,900.
