Using the same high tech North Thin Ply Technology (NTPT) materials used in Formula One and space technology, Richard Mille enhances the racing spirit of the brand by combining cutting-edge substrates within and without on the new RM 11-02. For the case, sheets of uni-directional carbon fibers are impregnated with high-tech resins under heat & pressure to create each layer of what will become a solid block of ultra light and ultra strong material. This block is then transformed at Mille’s ProArt facility in the Swiss Jura mountain village of Les Breuleux into a one of a kind construction. Micron accurate milling, drilling and finishing create an exterior with a wood-like grain, giving each case its own subtle individuality, while inside these exotic coachworks lies and engine of equal merit. Crafted using PVD coated titanium for the plates & bridges, the 275 plus components of the skeletonized movement integrate a grand date annual calendar, a flyback chronograph, a 60 minute countdown timer and a second time zone – all powered by a variable inertia rotor that can be adjusted to match your own activity level. Limited to 88 piece with a $181,000 price tag, the RM 11-02 is an exotic rarity available only at selected retailers and the Richard Mille boutiques in the America’s.
