First introduced in a steel case, this iconic design now returns in a precious metal version, harmoniously blending the elegance of black with the warmth of rose gold.

The ZENITH triple calendar chronograph is one of the most emblematic variations of El Primero. Not widely known, the legendary high-frequency automatic chronograph was developed to accommodate the triple calendar and moon phase functions right from the very beginning. ZENITH even made a series of 25 prototypes as early as 1970 using the round case design of the A386.

Reintroduced in 2024, the CHRONOMASTER Original Triple Calendar brings back a celebrated set of functions in a refined and compact 38mm case. Its harmonious proportions pay direct tribute to the iconic 1969 A386 model, featuring a raised box sapphire crystal, tapered lugs, and pump-style pushers. Extremely legible, perfectly balanced and intuitive to read, its dial seamlessly blends the full calendar indications with the El Primero three register chronograph lay-out. These are displayed through apertures: the day of the week and month indications are positioned symmetrically above the chronograph counters at 11 o’clock and 2 o’clock. The date is indicated in the traditional El Primero position of 04:30. Last, the moon phase is integrated into the chronograph minute register at 6 o’clock.

After the first steel models, this paragon of watchmaking sophistication is now presented in a resolutely modern version in 18-carat rose gold with a sleek black dial. The elegant contrast between the rose gold and deep black extends to the hands and dial whose chronograph counters, 1/10th of a second chapter ring and indexes beautifully mirror the colour of the case. The use of SuperLuminova SLN C1 on the faceted markers and hands improves readability in low-light conditions.

The CHRONOMASTER Original Triple Calendar is powered by the automatic El Primero 3610 calibre. This modern variant of the legendary ZENITH chronograph allows for a true 1/10th of a second function. Its steps precisely mark 1/10th of a second against the graduations on the chapter ring: to take full advantage of its 5Hz frequency, its chronograph seconds hand completes one revolution of the dial in 10 seconds, instead of the traditional 60 seconds. Despite the addition of the complete calendar mechanism, the power reserve is 60 hours. The movement’s integrated architecture is visible through the sapphire display case back, revealing a blue column wheel and an open rotor with the ZENITH five-pointed star.

The CHRONOMASTER Original Triple Calendar in rose gold is presented on a black calfskin strap with an 18-ct rose gold folding clasp. It is available at ZENITH boutiques, online, and through authorized retailers worldwide.

Since its founding in 1865 in Le Locle, Zenith has embodied the spirit of innovation in Swiss watchmaking. The brand is a true manufacture, renowned for developing the legendary El Primero in 1969, the world’s first integrated automatic chronograph movement. The El Primero’s high frequency of 36,000 vibrations per hour allows for exceptional precision, making it an icon of horology. Today, Zenith continues to build on this legacy with its Chronomaster and Defy collections, which showcase modern interpretations of the El Primero and push the boundaries of performance and material science. The brand’s motto, “Time to reach your star,” reflects its relentless pursuit of precision and innovation.
