This Week in Watches featured Armin Strom, Harry Winston and Hublot.

Hublot Big Bang Unico Sapphire

A Baselworld 2016 preview, this 500-piece limited edition features all models cut straight from sapphire without losing the gemstone’s beauty; the case middle, bezel and back are cut from blocks of sapphire. Complementing the silhouette, its strap is invisible so that one’s skin can be seen through it. The watch is powered by the HUB 1242 UNICO movement with black PVD treatment, which was developed and manufactured in-house.

Price: $57,900

Harry Winston Project Z9

Every piece in the Project Z9 is entirely made in Zalium, an exclusive Harry Winston alloy, which is ultralight and contains non-allergenic properties. The unique dark gray shade sets it apart from traditional materials. The 44.2 millimeter case houses the HW3304 chronograph caliber and with a 5 Hz frequency, the timepiece has a precise rate. The dial is composed of an openworked 3D grid bearing the indications. The watch is a limited edition of 300 pieces.

Armin Strom Cognac Watch

Armin Strom announces a partnership with Wealth Solutions, which owned a 1762 Gautier Cognac. Chief horologist, Claude Greisler devised a concept that protects the movement while incorporating the rare spirit. A sealed sapphire crystal disc positioned at 5 o’clock contains the cognac. On the backside, a hand-engraved design of grapes decorates the base plate. The AMW11 Caliber powers the timepiece; functions include hours, minutes and small seconds. The watch is limited edition of 40 pieces.
