De Bethune’s DBS Piéce Unique is a re-interpretation of the very first edition of the De Bethune Only Watch model from 2005, designed by De Bethune founders David Zanetta and Denis Flageollet. The white gold 45mm by 42.5mm case, with signature lugs and a top-wing crown, is representative of the brand. The spherical hour markers along with the hour and minute hands have been perfectly blue and meticulously hand-polished. This watch is driven by calibre DB2115, a hand-wound movement containing titanium bridges, a silicon and white gold balance wheel, silicon escape wheel and a six-day power reserve with the indication on the caseback.
On Nov. 7, an extraordinary collection of one-of-a-kind watches will be up for auction in Geneva and ready for the highest bidder. It is an incredible opportunity to bid on 43 unique watches in which the proceeds will benefit the Monaco Association Against Muscular Dystrophy to help fund research on Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a rare genetic neuromuscular disease affecting one birth in 3,500. De Bethune draws nurture and inspiration from several centuries of history in forging its vision of 21st century watchmaking art, profoundly rooted in contemporary culture. Each development is governed by a constant quest for aesthetic excellence, subtly interacting with the pursuit of high technical standards. The architecture of objects is driven as much by its beauty as by its sturdiness or its function, without any one factor outweighing the others. Like the classic chef d’oeuvres of historical master-watchmakers, De Bethune creations are authentic sculptures in which every component is designed to occupy all three spatial dimensions.
