The simple design, the unmistakable easy-to-read face, distinctive hands and the famous red seconds hand have made Mondaine timepieces uniquely successful the world over. The one-of-a-kind, easily readable watch has become one of the true design classics, directly inspired by the iconic Swiss Railways Clock, created in 1944.
In 1986, moved by the blueprint of the iconic-patented design of the Swiss Railways Clock, an enduring signature of design standards and easily recognizable as the clock seen on all Swiss railway platforms, the Mondaine watch company translated this design into a watch collection with official license from the Federal Swiss Railways. These Mondaine Official Swiss Railways watches are the famous clock in miniature, and carry the same reputation of excellent Swiss watchmaking, punctuality and uncomplicated, concise design.
The Mondaine New Classic is personified by its straightforward and unadorned case and crystal shape, its luxurious genuine black leather strap with red accent, and, of course, the famed red second hand modeled after the signal paddle used on the Swiss Railway. Available with the wearer’s choice of a brushed or polished 30, 33 or 36 MM stainless steel case, the Mondaine New Classic is also available with a Big Date function at the 3:00 and a 33 MM case size, or a Day Date function at the 3:00 and a 36 MM case size.
Suggested retail price: Mondaine New Classic: $195; Mondaine New Classic Big Date: $225; Mondaine New Classic Day Date: $225.
