Roger Dubuis Races with Lamborghini

Continuing to fast-track its affiliation with the high-end automotive world, Roger Dubuis this week debuts a new partnership with Italian automaker Lamborghini. As a result of the partnership, Roger Dubuis launches a new watch: the Excalibur Aventador S, a sporty titanium-cased model that utilizes the livery colors and a few of the same high-tech materials found in Lamborghini cars.

Those materials, multi-layered carbon and C-SMC carbon, can be found within the dials on one of the two variations of the new watch. The new Rogers Dubuis skeletonized double-sprung-balance RD103SQ caliber is especially designed to echo the shape of Lamborghini’s new Aventador S engine and new Huracàn Super Trofeo EVO.

The yellow-tinged Aventador-S utilizes Lamborghini’s Giallo Orion yellow paint code plus a multi-layered carbon case. The orange-tinted model with Arancio Argo (metallic orange) tints, and made as a limited edition of eight, features C-SMC- Carbon, a high-tech material being also used this year for the first time by Lamborghini.

Lamborghini Squadra Corse supported FFF Racing Team

Utilizing a new tag line, “Powered by Raging Mechanics,” Roger Dubuis here shaped this new Duotor movement to explicitly echo the contours and the angular placement of Lamborghini engines. Roger Dubuis carefully inclined the Duotor’s unusual double balance to mimic the angle of the engine inside the racecar, supported and highlighted by holders shaped like triangular wheel suspension assemblies.

Muscular movement

The movement, with its specific Italian racing detail is decidedly muscular and offers a clear counterpoint to the mundane–or even quartz–calibers sometimes seen powering so-called ‘racing watches.’ These are serious, technically proficient Geneva-Seal certified movements that offer a sophistication appreciated by a high-end racecar enthusiast.

Lamborghini owners will recognize the similarity between their two favorite engines immediately, and, as Roger Dubuis no doubt knows, will likely begin placing their orders to match their cars to their wrists. With the limited nature of these very sporty skeletonized 45mm timekeepers, professional (or even a weekend) Lamborghini drivers best contact Geneva right away before this collection reaches the finish line.

Prices: $216,000 (Excalibur Aventador S Orange) limited to eight pieces.
And $194,500 (Excalibur Aventador S Yellow) limited to 88 pieces.
