Richard Mille wishes to congratulate Rafael Nadal for his magnificent victory at Acapulco on Sunday, March 3rd. The Majorcan defeated his countryman David Ferrer 6-0, 6-2 in 1 hour and 6 minutes on clay. Rafael Nadal, who was away from courts for seven months due to a long-term knee injury, returned in good shape for this tournament and did not concede a single set and gave up his serve only once. Thanks to this victorious final, Rafael adds a 52nd title, of which 38 were on clay. This victory marks a big return in the sport, barely a fortnight after his victory in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Richard Mille partner since 2010, Rafa competed with his RM 27-01 on his wrist at the Acapulco tournament, the world’s lightest tourbillon (19 grams strap included). The RM 27-01 was previewed for the very first time in Geneva during the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie. The caliber RM27-01 is a triumph of engineering and technology, created by Richard Mille and in close collaboration with Rafael Nadal as the RM 027 Tourbillon and the RM 035 Chronofiable® certified were created before. Truly innovating with a movement held in total suspension at its heart and a baseplate attached to the case by four braided steel cables just 0.35 mm in diameter. The result of its extreme and innovative approach: the exceptional caliber can withstand accelerations of over 5,000 G. With the RM 27-01 on Rafael Nadal’s wrist, Richard Mille continues in new technical challenges and tests new solutions in the world of Haute Horlogerie.
The RM 27-01, available in carbon nanotubes and supplied on a Velcro® strap, is available in a limited edition of 50 timepieces.
