Dutch watch brand, TW Steel has joined forces with U.S. performing rights organization Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI in granting six talented, unsigned songwriters the chance to perform in front of a panel of music industry tastemakers. The BMI “Know Them Now” contest exists as a multi-city showcase that will be held in Atlanta, July 21; Los Angeles, July 21; and New York City, July 28. Aspiring BMI-affiliated unsigned artists from all genres of music were encouraged to apply for the opportunity to perform at one of these star-spotting showcases by submitting original performance videos to a panel of BMI judges.
Today, music fans are able to vote for their favorite video performances by logging onto the BMI’s Facebook page. Fans will vote on the top 25 videos, which have been selected by the BMI panel and narrow the field down to six semi-finalists. The top six emerging artists will move on to perform live in one of three cities (Atlanta, Los Angeles, or New York). Performances in each of the three cities will be judged by top music industry tastemakers who will vote for the best performer in each region. Each top performer will be granted a personalized TW Steel timepiece, and the opportunity to compete in the final round of competition.
The top three finalist’s videos will be uploaded to the BMI Facebook page, where fans will grant one talented artist the trip of a life time – a VIP trip to Los Angeles including airfare, lodging accommodations, and tickets to the BMI Awards ceremony. The Grand Prize winner will be presented with a VIP gift package at the BMI Awards from sponsors TW Steel and Blue Microphone. To vote for your favorite performer, log on to BMI’s Facebook page.
